Census enumerators training disrupted in Kangemi as youths storm the ongoing training at Westlands. The youths cited flawed recruitment exercise.

Tension builds up in Kangemi in Westlands Constituency after residents took to the streets on Thursday to protest the recruitment of census officials in the area, blocking roads leading the training venue.

Police were forced to lob teargas canisters to disperse youth who had stormed census enumerators training center in Kihumbuini primary school in Kangemi, Nairobi County protesting the ‘flawed’ hiring.

The Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi stopped the exercise citing verification and cleaning up of the register before the training proceeds.

The residents claim the majority of the enumerators are from Eastlands.
