Nairobi MCAs retreat celebrating the exit of Speaker Beatrice Elachi

Nairobi County Assembly MCAs retreat for a brief party at a Thika Road hotel shortly after speaker Beatrice Elachi gave up at the county assembly headquarters ready for impeachment.


A cross-section of ward reps celebrated the exit of the embattled speaker by toasting and tossing down glasses of wine over nyama choma, despite the ban on the sale of alcohol and social gatherings.


The venue is owned by a city politician who has been a top critic and pushing for Elachi's administration removal.


The party was held in a hurry within two hours. MCAs were allowed to leave after they accepted on an appointment outside Nairobi in the coming weeks for accelerating the toppling of the county speaker.
