Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa and her assistant Geoffrey Okuto Otieno remanded until Thursday, October 22 when they will face murder charges.

The two appeared before Judge Njoki Mwangi on Monday morning.

The court ordered that the two undergo a mental assessment at the Coast General Hospital before the plea taking.

The move comes after the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) approved murder and assault charges against the MP over the killing of a man and injury of several other people during the Ganda Ward by-election in 2019.

Mombasa Regional Head Alloys Kemo upheld the charges against the legislator as well as her bodyguard Geoffrey Okuto Otieno.

The Duo will now set to undergo mental assessments next Wednesday before being charged in court.

They are facing murder charges over the killing of Ngumbao Jola, uncle to Ganda ward MCA Reuben Katana who was shot at his home allegedly by the Ps aides.
