Moi Girls High School Eldoret closed indefinitely after students went on strike over poor management.

The students on Wednesday went on strike asking for the removal of the school principal Christine Chumba.

They boycotted classes challenging the principal of harassing them and also mistreating their teachers.

Uasin Gishu Director of Education Gitonga Mbaka said the resolution had been taken as the ministry looks for an explanation to problems raised by the students at the school.

The students were ordered to leave today.

Police officers and senior education officials were instantly called to monitor the school.

The principal was later grilled in a meeting with education and security officials as well as probes underway despite being non-chaotic.

The students had camped at the school gate but they have not been allowed to demonstrate outside the institution.

They also allege they have been neglected by the school principal and their grievance have been dismissed.

The students also allege corruption in management at the institution.
