A Kieni man in Nyeri police

A Kieni man in Nyeri County disappeared after a hint that is being hunted by police after admitting to killing his wife.

The suspect, who works at a quarry in the Chaka area, on Friday night (February 19) called his wife and told her he was sick. He, consequently, asked his spouse to bring him money for drugs.

When the woman came, the suspect, recognised only as Kinyua, asked to speak with her in private. He took her to a nearby thicket where he stabbed the victim multiple times, killing her on the spot.

The suspect then fled to an unknown destination.

Later Friday evening, he called a few of his workmates on phone and confessed to having murdered his wife.

“He said he murdered her and dumped her body in the thicket,” said one of Kinyua’s workmates.

The couple, who are in their 30s, had earlier separated before rejoining freshly after holding secret talks.

It remains unclear why Kinyua killed his partner, though friends say the two had been entangled in an unending internal conflict.

The family is blessed with two children.

Police say they have begun a hunt for the murderer.

The body of Kinyua’s wife was taken to the Nyeri County Referral Hospital mortuary.
