Broadcasting company Multichoice acquires Betking

The video entertainment and broadcasting company Multichoice say that it acquired 1.2 million new subscribers in three months.

Under the same period of analysis, multichoice closed with 20.1 million households that are served by the company. This is also the first time that the company has reached a +20 million breakthrough.

MultiChoice’s customers are mostly in South Africa; 43 Percent of the families (8.7 million) reside in SA, whereas the rest of Africa take the other 57 Percent.

The company’s profits went up to 41 Percent totalling KES 18.84 billion, with the strong growth linked to a 38 Percent increase in organic trading profit and lower net earned foreign exchange losses.

MultiChoice also unveils DSTV explora Ultra, a new decoder for fans with extra capabilities.

Experts describe it as the next-gen box that will offer customers an improved viewing experience pre-loaded with its video streaming app Showmax.

It is also loaded with Netflix after signing a partnership deal late last year.


Multi Choice acquires Betking

MultiChoice completes a 20 Percent investment in BetKing, a sports betting group that operates in Kenya, Nigeria, and Ethiopia.

MultiChoice discloses that it had invested $81 million, and might increase with an additional $31 million should specific targets be met before 2024.
