Sharp fuel price increases announced on Tuesday ignited an uproar and demonstrations across the country as Kenyans cry over the increased cost of living.

Manufacturers warned Kenyans to expect the cost of goods, transport and electricity to increase as they are prepared to pass operational costs to consumers.

DP William Ruto defended President Uhuru Kenyatta over the fuel price increment, a rare defence after the fallout of their political bromance.

Speaking in a meeting with delegates from the Kandara constituency in his official residence in Karen Nairobi, Ruto said Uhuru is not the one to be criticised over the recent hike in fuel prices.

Dr William Ruto accused the people entitled to run that sector of the definite rise in fuel prices.

He asked those responsible to relook their prices. DP urged those responsible to help Kenyans from the high rate of inflation, stop failing the government, by painting a bad picture of it as being an oppressive regime.   He added that people are already living in hard economic times.
