Evans Chebet wins Boston Marathon


Eliud Kipchoge, a well-known runner from Kenya, came in sixth place overall in the 2023 Boston Marathon on Monday, April 17.


After 25 km, Kipchoge, who had been leading a group of 11 other competitors when they broke away, fell back. His timing was recorded as 2:09:23.


Evans Chebet, the 2022 champion who was attempting to defend his title, finished the race in 2:05:54 seconds to win the gold medal.

Eliud Kipchoge lost to Evans Chebet

Gabriel Geay and Benson Kipruto, both of Tanzania, crossed the finish line with a time of 2:06:04, placing second and third, respectively.


Chebet will walk away with the race with Ksh20.2 million, which is equivalent to $150,000. He is just the sixth male competitor in the history of the Boston Marathon to succeed in defending his title back-to-back.


Augustine Choge, Albert Korir, Hassan Chahdi, John Korir, and Mathew Korir are some of the other Kenyans that have entered the competition.
