After their Grade Two son mysteriously passed away at Karapul village on Friday evening, the entire family in Alego/Usonga sub-county, Siaya County, found themselves stricken with sorrow and pain.
The little boy's corpse was discovered dangling from the ceiling of one of his parents' apartments, and investigators believe he may have committed suicide.
The boy's parents were abroad when they were astonished to be summoned back by neighbours and told that his corpse was hanging from the roof, according to Karapul sub-location Chief Dorcas Olombo.
According to reports cited by Ms Olombo, the mother of the boy said that she had left him enjoying himself with his younger sister while she went to the marketplace, only to return to find his dead corpse swinging atop the house's roof.
The administrator claimed that the deceased's mother rejected the idea that her son would have committed suicide and suggested that he might have actually been the victim of murder by an unidentified person who then staged the crime to look like a suicide.
According to the administrator, the police responded to the spot and transferred the deceased to the mortuary of the Siaya County Referral Hospital while they started their inquiries.
