After domestic disputes, a 28-year-old mother hacked her two children to death and wounded her husband, shocking the inhabitants of Taaria Apartments in Rongai, Kajiado County.
Hussein Gura, the police chief for Kajiado North, confirmed the event and said that the suspect, a housewife, stabbed her 2-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter in the wee hours of June 8, 2023.
The woman then assaulted her 30-year-old businessman spouse and repeatedly knifed him before killing herself.
"According to the initial findings, the couple had a domestic argument before the unusual deaths," he said.
The manager of the flat reported hearing the suspect's spouse pleading for assistance in the early morning hours.
The pair received medical attention at a Sinai Health Centre before being moved to the Kenyatta National Hospital, where they are now in serious condition, by neighbours who heard the disturbance and stormed the residence.
"We heard a disturbance coming from the home as usual, but we were unaware that it would have a fatal outcome. When we were able to unlock the door, the two youngsters were lying in a pool of blood," according to a neighbour.
The victim's remains were transported to a neighbouring mortuary.
