Mobile Opera Mini Executive Vice President Jorgen Arnesen

Opera, a well-known web browser, has revealed intentions of offering millions of Kenyans unlimited access to the internet via its main product Opera Mini.

The IT company claims that the change was made in an attempt to strengthen its footprint across Africa.

According to Mobile Opera Mini Executive Vice President Jorgen Arnesen, "Our mobile products and services were created primarily with the African market in mind. We have invested in the region to get greater numbers of individuals online and offer them an extremely fast and trustworthy web connection."

"Up to this point, free data campaigns have aided approximately 40 million people across five countries, so we believe it to have achieved a significant effect on stimulating digitalization."

The internet company said that it has made significant investments in Kenyan goods to make surfing quicker, less data-intensive, or even free.

This, it added, is in collaboration with top local, regional, and international businesses to guarantee our users have the finest online experience.

"Our goods are tailored to meet local demands, which have attracted a lot of favourable comments and interest. We are dedicated to developing solutions with African customers in mind, as mentioned in our plan, therefore we are doing just that," according to Mr. Arnesen.

Other inventions include ways to save data that aim to solve Kenyans' problems with the high cost of data.

"We began to successfully build additional local servers, including one in Nairobi, to create a good data-saving browser. When utilising Opera mobile apps like the well-known Opera Mini browser, the servers accelerate internet surfing, making connection times up to four times quicker than previously, " Mr Arnesen said.

According to Opera, some of the key market difficulties include low levels of digital adoption and digital literacy, as well as high data prices and infrastructural constraints.
