AFCON 2024 on KBC: KBC to air all 52 Africa Cup 2023 matches after acquiring broadcast license

KBC to air all 52 AFCON games live
With all 52 of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations matches scheduled to air on KBC platforms, Kenyans will have the opportunity to enjoy the greatest football available in Africa from the comfort of their own homes.
Following the acquisition of the free-to-air broadcast rights to broadcast all AFCON 2023 matches live, starting on January 13, 2023, and ending on February 11, 2024, by KBC, Kenyans are thrilled for the event.
Ababu Namwamba, the cabinet secretary for sports, thanked President Ruto for supporting such initiatives while stating that the development will guarantee that those without pay TV access can follow events from Ivory Coast through a broadcaster with the widest audience.
“We are pleased to announce that the football exhibition will be televised live and free of cost to the Kenyan public.
” According to us, this embodies the hustler mentality and is bottom up,” the CS said.
He said the agreement is part of an intricate effort to establish KBC as the top sports broadcaster in the nation which includes the recent arrangement that saw the public broadcaster clinch a contract to exclusively broadcast free-to-air football Kenya Federation premier league.
Engineer Peter Tum, the principal secretary for sports, expressed similar views, stating that the arrangement represents the president’s goals.
Professor Edward Kisiangani, the principal secretary for broadcasting and telecommunications, claims that the plan is a continuation of the Kenya Kwanza government’s ongoing efforts to enhance talent in the nation.
While promising to produce high-caliber programming, KBC Acting Managing Director Paul Macharia said that the network strives to offer the greatest experience for its viewers.
” Thank you for choosing us to be “Your True Sports Partner,” our audience. We will continue to provide you with high-caliber broadcasts including the greatest items related to African football,” declared Macharia.
In accordance with the terms of the agreement with the rights holders, New World TV (NWTV), the matches will air on KBC Channel 1 and Y254, as well as on all 14 of the company’s radio stations, including Radio Taifa, KBC English Service, Pwani FM, Mayienga FM, Ingo FM, Minto FM, Coro FM, Kitwek FM, Ngemi FM, Mwago FM, Mwatu FM, Iftin FM, Nosim FM, and The Eastern Service.
