Kevin Omwenga, a teacher at Nyamira Boys High School, takes his life after betting all his salary on Aviator and losing.
Last week, the teacher received his salary, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the salary was insufficient to cover his bills.
After wagering all his salary on the Westlands betting firm platform, the pilot flew away, leaving the teacher shocked as other players continued wagering on the next pilot.
Sources reveal that the teacher played that aviator during games time as other teachers were busy marking assessments.
One of the teachers reported that Kevin hurriedly left the school compound, marking the last instance of the teacher’s presence.
The second day, a female teacher tried to reach him with no success. In the evening, the teacher rushed to his home, only to find the door locked from inside.
The teacher called his male colleagues and village elder, only to find that Mr. Omwenga was dead.
On top of that, there was a notice suggesting that he had lost all his money on the virtual aeroplane game and could not withstand the economic stress. Kisii Level 5 will carry out the post-mortem and later burial at the teachers’ home.
