The broadcasting rights to all CAF events in 2024, including the much-awaited Total Energies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023, have been bought by StarTimes Media while free to air granted to Mediamax, which owns K24 TV and a set of radio stations.

StarTimes has been granted access to all CAF events in 2024, which include games between Anglophone and Lusophone nations in Sub-Saharan Africa. The matches are slated to begin on January 13 and end on February 11, 2024.

As he announced, StarTimes CEO Jimmy Carter Luo was enthusiastic. “We are overjoyed to share that StarTimes has secured the broadcasting rights for AFCON 2023, expressing an important accomplishment for the company as we keep going to bring the highest quality in sports entertainment to our audience members.”

He continued by saying that StarTimes’ commitment to advancing and championing African sports is demonstrated by the sizeable investment made in the broadcasting rights for AFCON 2023 and CAF Events. StarTimes hopes to spread the anticipation and exhilaration of AFCON to a broader demographic while advocating an atmosphere of pride and unity among Africans.

The broadcaster’s dedication to providing its viewers nationwide with non-stop sports programming from the start of the games till the end was emphasised by Myke Mwai, head of PR and content syndication.

He emphasised the incredible event that would be the AFCON 2023, which will be held in Ivory Coast and feature 24 countries participating in 52 exhilarating matches.
