A source has raised concerns about alleged mistreatment and abuse at Ranch House Bistro in Naivasha, which operates under Lapieve Limited alongside the Chui Lodge (both properties owned by the Zwager family), who also have interests in Oserian Development Company.
The anonymous source reports that two of the Zwager grandchildren, Twain Zwager and Jonathan Keith, subject staff members to severe verbal and physical abuse.
According to the claims, their behaviour escalates to the point of assaulting security guards, including both insults and physical altercations.
The source also describes troubling conditions at Bistro, including allegations of poor pay, extended working hours, and a lack of monetary compensation, with claims that any attempts to report these issues have been met with threats and suppression.
Concerns exist about the potential racial undertones in the reported behaviour of the Zwager grandchildren, who allegedly engaged in humiliating actions in front of staff.
The source attached the following CCTV footage that allegedly shows the reported harassment.
Sources at the ranch said, “Please protect my identity as I share this. I currently work at Ranch House Bistro in Naivasha, which is a sister property to Chui Lodge, a 5-star establishment located within the Oserengoni Wildlife Sanctuary.
The Zwager family, along with Oserian Development Company, privately owns both. I’m reaching out to highlight the severe issues we, as employees, are facing under Lapieve Limited, the company that operates these two establishments.
“Recently, the situation has become unbearable due to the escalating mistreatment, harassment, and abuse from two of the Zwager grandchildren, Twain Zwager and Jonathan Keith.
“These two have consistently insulted and abused the staff, particularly at Ranch House Bistro, a premium dining destination along Moi South Lake Road in Naivasha. Their behaviour has crossed all lines, with verbal insults escalating into physical abuse.
Because of the Zwager family’s significant influence in the area, assaults on security guards have gone unreported to the authorities.
“The situation has deteriorated further, with Twain and Jonathan now spitting in front of staff while addressing them—a blatant display of racism, especially considering the already appalling working conditions we face.
Poor pay, long working hours, and no monetary compensation are the norm. The authorities have suppressed any attempts to report these matters, threatening to shut down the establishment if we pursue legal action against the abuses and insults. I have CCTV footage of the harassment.”
