Edgar Lungu attempts to meet President Hichilema over heated politics

On Friday evening, representatives of the former President Edgar Lungu met with President Hakainde Hichilema of the Republican Party, proposing a meeting to resolve their issues.
Edgar Lungu sent emissaries to Community House, who were mostly clergymen working for Lungu.

They were trying to convince the former president to change his mind about going back into politics and accept his rightful place as a statesman who should be assigned to peacekeeping and other local and international missions.
There is a strong belief among traditional leaders and a few religious leaders that Edgar Lungu took an emotional decision to return to active politics when he was asked to give a speech at the tomb of late President Michael Sata.
Edgar, in their opinion, will only serve to further polarize politics and undermine the PF.
Sources close to the negotiations have disclosed that there is a perception that Edgar is no longer popular with the Zambian people and should just function as a statesman.
Presumably, President Hakainde Hichilema informed them that he had no ill will towards anyone and was prepared to meet with his brother Edgar Lungu as well as other opposition political groups in a sincere manner for the sake of the nation.
President Hichilema also informed them that his unceasing attempts to alleviate the sufferings were motivated by his profound awareness of the difficulties residents faced.
He reminded them that they needed to cooperate, in particular that the present global economic crisis, which is causing prices to rise globally, and previous blunders were the primary causes of the current economic challenges.
In order to address regional and global concerns while focusing on local ones as president, the President informed them that he would have wanted to properly care for his brother and include him in certain important missions.
The representatives expressed great satisfaction with the tone of the meeting and pledged to get in touch with the President again after giving Edgar Lungu the message.
Once he gets back from his travels around Europe, President Hichilema indicated he is ready at any moment.
