The DCI has arrested five people in connection with the murder of Richard Otieno, who was known as the ‘Molo President,’ and was an activist in Nakuru.
On January 18, 2025, Richard was killed, and DCI detectives have now caught five suspects believed to be involved in this terrible crime.
The main suspects are Geoffrey Mavado, John Ndegwa, and Jorim Ngonga Sura, who are thought to have directly participated in the murder.
The other two suspects, Clinton Simantu (also known as Muiruri) and Peter Mwaniki (also known as Pinchez), work as bodaboda operators. They are believed to have taken the hitmen to and from the place where the crime happened.
On November 8, 2024, Geoffrey Mavado and John Ndegwa were previously arrested and charged with attacking Richard, and they were given one year of probation.
During the investigation into the murder, evidence was found that placed these two at the crime scene, which will help in their prosecution.
All five suspects are now in custody, and they are being prepared to appear in court.
Meanwhile, the investigators from the Homicide Directorate, Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, and Operations teams are continuing to look into the case to find any more suspects involved.
