Tanzanian actress Wema Sepetu declared that her love bond with Bongo Flava artist Whozu is stronger than ever, igniting discussions among fans about who loves the other more in their high-profile relationship.
The couple, whose romance has captivated East Africa since 2022, celebrated Wema’s 38th birthday with an intimate gathering in Dar es Salaam, where she praised Whozu’s unwavering support.
Social media platforms buzz with speculation, with some fans arguing Wema’s devotion shines brighter, while others point to Whozu’s grand gestures as proof of his deeper affection.
Whozu, born Oscar John Lelo, is a 26-year-old singer, songwriter, and entertainer known for hits like “Doko” and “Attention” featuring Zuchu. Rising through Tanzania’s vibrant Bongo Flava scene, he gained fame for his catchy beats and collaborations with producers like S2kizzy.
Wema Sepetu, a 38-year-old former Miss Tanzania and Bongo Movies star, is a household name, previously linked to Diamond Platnumz and the late Steven Kanumba. Their relationship began in 2022, sparked by a chance meeting at a 2021 Zanzibar music festival, evolving from friendship to romance.
The love story took centre stage on Wema’s 32nd birthday in 2022, when Whozu threw a lavish surprise party complete with a violinist and red roses, confirming their romance.
Wema, moved by his gesture, went live on Instagram, defiantly telling critics, “Let the haters hate.” The event, held in a cosy Dar es Salaam apartment, saw the couple kiss passionately, cementing their status as a power couple.
However, the relationship faced controversy, as Whozu had recently parted ways with video vixen Cappuccino Tunda, with whom he shares a daughter. Fans criticised Wema for allegedly “snatching” him, but she insisted that Whozu brought her unparalleled happiness.
Their bond has weathered challenges, including a miscarriage in August 2022, which Whozu attributed to a heated argument, expressing regret in a Clouds FM interview.
Wema, who has openly discussed her fertility struggles, including past miscarriages and a belief that Kanumba cursed her, remains hopeful about having a child with Whozu.
In a 2023 post, she wrote, “Mebakisha kimoja tu kukamilisha furaha yangu kwako Amore,” hinting that a child would seal their love, though she added, “You are enough.”
Fans are divided on who loves more. Wema’s emotional posts, like her October 2024 message calling Whozu her “true happiness”, suggest deep devotion, especially after her painful split from Diamond Platnumz.
Conversely, Whozu’s actions – planting surprises, hinting at marriage, and planning to convert to Islam for Wema, point to his commitment.
Wema celebrated Whozu’s birthday tribute to her, dismissing breakup rumours. Yet, tensions surfaced when Wema’s mother disapproved of Whozu living in her daughter’s home, as seen during last year’s birthday drama.
The couple’s resilience shines through. Wema’s 2025 birthday was low-key, attended by close friends like Lulu Diva, reflecting a shift from past extravagance. Whozu’s studio work with Wema, including potential new tracks, keeps their bond visible.
As Tanzania’s entertainment scene watches, some call their love “goals”, while others question its longevity. Their story, rooted in mutual support and shared dreams, continues to inspire, with debates over their dedication fuelling Tanzania’s gossip mills.
