Abdikadir Abdullahi Hassan, Kibera man Jailed for life for sodomising 9-year-old boy

A Kibera court sentenced a man, Abdikadir Abdullahi Hassan, to life in prison after he was found guilty of defiling a nine-year-old child in the Kichinjio district. Abdikadir Abdullahi Hassan was convicted when Senior Principal Magistrate Irene Kahuya determined that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt.

According to the prosecution, Hassan enticed the youngster, A.M.K., inside his business before perpetrating the crime. The court heard testimony from four witnesses, all of whom provided comprehensive details of the victim’s trauma.

Magistrate Kahuya condemned the increasing number of sexual assaults in the region, calling the conduct “a grave betrayal of trust” put in the accused by the victim and his family.

She went on to say that the youngster is still traumatised, with nightmares and a dread of leaving the house. The court issued a life term under the Sexual Offences Act, underlining that the penalty should act as a deterrent to those who may commit similar offences.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) hailed the decision, calling it a watershed moment in the battle against sexual and gender-based violence.

The ODPP praised the case’s quick resolution, which was completed in 10 months, saying it demonstrated the agency’s commitment to delivering speedy justice for vulnerable victims and respecting the rule of law.
