Glasner to Leave Crystal Palace at Season End

Oliver Glasner will leave Crystal Palace at the end of the season. The Austrian manager confirmed on Friday that he has turned down a new contract offer from the club. He told chairman Steve Parish about his decision back in October. Glasner said he wants a fresh challenge after two years at Selhurst Park.

Glasner arrived in February 2024 when Palace sat just above the relegation zone. He steadied the team that year and kept them safe. The real turnaround came in the 2024-25 season. Palace pushed up the table and reached the FA Cup final.

They beat Manchester City 2-1 at Wembley in May 2025 to win the trophy for the first time in club history. Eberechi Eze scored twice that day. The victory earned them the Community Shield too, which they won on penalties against Liverpool.

In total, Glasner managed 71 games. His record shows 33 wins, a draw rate of around 30 percent, and losses in only 21 percent of matches. That low loss figure stands out as one of the best in Palace history.

Fans credit him for playing attractive football and giving chances to young players. Names like Adam Wharton and Tyrick Mitchell grew under him.

This season has been harder. Palace sit 13th in the Premier League with a mix of results. They have gone winless in the last five league games. Injuries hit the squad, and form dipped after the highs of last year.

Captain Marc Guehi looks set to leave. Manchester City have agreed a £20 million deal for the defender. Guehi has been key at the back. Losing him will hurt.

Glasner spoke to reporters after training on Friday. He said the choice was tough but right for him. He thanked the chairman, staff, players and fans for the support. “Palace gave me a great chance, and we achieved things together,” he added. He promised to give everything until the last game in June. The team still has the league to finish and possible cup runs.

Chairman Steve Parish issued a short statement. He called Glasner a top manager who brought success and pride. Parish said the club respects his decision and will plan for the future. No names have come up yet for a replacement. Palace want someone who fits the style and knows the Premier League.

Fans have mixed feelings. Many thank Glasner for the FA Cup memories. Posts online show clips from Wembley and messages of gratitude. Some worry about next season without him. The club has sold key players before and rebuilt. It happened under Roy Hodgson and Patrick Vieira too.

Glasner came from Eintracht Frankfurt, where he won the Europa League. His time at Palace showed he can handle pressure in England. Bigger clubs might look at him now. He has not said where he wants to go next.

Palace play away this weekend. Glasner will be in the dugout as usual. The focus stays on points to stay mid-table. After that, attention turns to who takes over.

This news ends a successful chapter for the Eagles. Glasner leaves with trophies and respect. The search for the next manager starts soon.
