We were offered 2M to vote yes! MPs reveal parliamentary secrets with the State House

Legislators continues to leak more secrets, with several MPs now claiming they received financial incentives to approve the Finance Bill 2024.

This is not the first time in a country that MPs have offered cash to pass important and controversial bills. One MP said that this parliament is the most usable since independence.

Juja MP George Koimburi

Legislators allegedly received an offer of Ks. 2 million to support the Finance Bill, which moved on to a second reading on Thursday, according to Juja MP George Koimburi’s Sunday claims.

One of the 114 parliamentarians who opposed the bill, Koimburi, said that lawmakers had received payments to approve the legislation, which set off last week’s #OccupyParliament demonstrations.

The member of parliament said that he refused the bribe and voted against the measure in conversation at the AIPCA Ndururumo Church in the Juja constituency.

“We were offered money… You saw how they carried bags of cash. They informed us that we would receive Ks. 2 million for each yes vote,” he said.
