Mkono wa serikali umekuwa fupi, new reality to Chief Inspector David Maina who will have to wait for long to get insurance as government has not disbursed premiums.

Chief Inspector David Maina, who lost his arms during the #RejectFinanceBill2024 protests in Nairobi on Tuesday, will have to wait longer for his insurance compensation because the government has not disbursed Ksh 15 billion in premiums meant for police officers.

Kenyans mocked his move, saying it was probable that the shooting could have killed someone’s child, and it was a lesson to other police officers.

This officer has been a thorny in flesh for the residents of Nyali as he once stationed at Nyali Police Station in Mombasa.

“Atafuta vipi mefi! Nigga didn’t know we were protesting for him as well. See now.. Armless.. The government eats its own children.” Bella reacted on social media.

“Poetic justice. He’s definitely going to need a handful of donations. If he could have acted differently, he could have had a lot of donations in handy,” Ngich posted on X.

“I feel sorry for him. Even the government he was defending has no time for him,” Amwoga posted.

“Next time, proceed with caution when defending this callous and indifferent regime that would neglect you at your desperate moment,” reacted Jdugudichi on X.

“The protest was also for him; he decided to go armless for a government that doesn’t care about him. It remains to be seen if he will be able to stop the protest,” he added.

On the other side, President William Ruto continues to push for the search for financiers. Government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura claims Russia or Israel is sponsoring the protests.

Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura claims foreign powers are funding protests due to President Ruto’s stance on Russia and dedollarization. Mwaura suggests Gen-Z demonstrations against the Finance Bill may have international backing.

President William Ruto also convenes a high-level meeting with senior security officials, including Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki and Inspector-General of Police Japhet Koome, to address concerns over outdated crowd-control tactics used against a new wave of unarmed and peaceful #RejectFinanceBill2024 protestors.

Sources received reports confirming that police are strategizing to protect key government installations and improve coordination ahead of planned mass demos on Tuesday.
