Police in Nairobi have apprehended a man they say is a government official who extorted Ksh 1.5 million from a job applicant.
After receiving a bribe of Ksh 1.5 million, Commission official Mark Kipruto Kuto was apprehended yesterday.
Kipruto falsely claimed that a Principal Secretary had directed him to bribe a complainant into accepting the post of chief executive officer at South Nyanza Sugar Company, which had been advertised on December 5, 2023.
After the victim informed the EACC about the incident, detectives located and apprehended the thief in the central business district (CBD) who had made off with the money.
