Retired President Mwai Kibaki is not seriously admitted to hospital as some media reports indicated but just going through routine check-ups according to his Private Secretary Ngari Gituku.

However, the 88-year-old retired head of state visited The Nairobi Hospital last week, a trip Mr Gituku described as “a routine check-up”.

The retired president has been on and off the hospital. The news comes after he was hospitalized for knee pains.

The former president is said to be on his own businesses despite being taken for routine check-ups in different hospitals.
