President Uhuru Kenyatta has lauded Africa’s joint response to Coronavirus, stating that the measures being executed by African countries are moderating coronavirus spread.

Despite limited resources, President Kenyatta said the continent followed proactive measures that have saved lives.

“Africa has responded to Covid-19 much better than most other parts of the world, particularly when you consider its relatively weaker resource base.

“For a continent with 1.2 billion people, we have about 400,000 confirmed cases and just over 10,000 deaths. For comparison, that is about 15 per cent of the cases in the United States and 7 per cent of US deaths,” the Head of State said.

The President made the comments on Saturday night, July 4, during a webinar on post-COVID-19 restoration that was created by the African chapter of the International Summit Council for Peace (ISCP-Africa).
