Mortein Doom has appointed award-winning Kenyan singer Wahu Kagwi as the brand ambassador for its new national anti-malaria campaign.


Wahu, who is married to fellow musician Nameless, will front the 'Fight to End Malaria' campaign.


"Women and mothers are the agents of change and the driving force behind bettering life for families, communities, and society as a whole in our country's health, as well as many other sectors."

 "I am thrilled to be working with Mortein as it continues to pave the route for a malaria-free Kenya," she remarked at her meeting.


Mortein's parental company Reckitt said the decision to make Wahu the brand ambassador is aimed at raising public awareness about preventive measures while also reassuring people that the deadly disease is treatable and curable.


"This agreement aims to develop a cooperation between Mortein and Wahu to raise awareness about the ever-present threat of malaria in Kenya and our renewed commitment to eradicate the illness," stated Asif Hashimi, Reckitt Kenya Country Manager.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Kenya has an estimated 3.5 million new clinical cases and 10,700 deaths each year, with residents in western Kenya having a higher risk of malaria (CDC).
