Mr Mohamed Mdigo Mwamlare brother to Rabai MP William Kamoti picked to fly ODM flag in 2022 elections

The deceased Rabai MP William Kamoti's family has decided that his younger brother will run for the position on an Orange Democratic Movement ticket.

Mr Mohamed Mdigo Mwamlare, according to Kilifi ODM branch chair and Ganze MP Teddy Mwambire, would then run for the Rabai constituency on the party ticket in lieu of his brother, who kicked the bucket after being vetted by the electoral commission.

They are now seeking for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to clear him, according to Mwambire.

"After the IEBC approval procedure, the family and ODM have decided on Mohamed Mdigo Mwamkale as our nominee," he added.

Due to the death of Rabai MP William Kamoti, politicians from the Coastline called on the ODM to substitute him with a relative.

Kamoti died in a car crash on the Malindi-Mombasa route on Sunday evening, only hours after being approved by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to reclaim his post.

He was laid to rest in his Kaliang'ome village home in Rabai, Kisurutini, where thousands of loyal followers flocked to Kaliang'ombe primary school to pay their respects.

Cantona Mwadena, a member of the Rabai Kisurutini Member of County Assembly (MCA), characterized the late Kamoti as a charismatic figure whose mantle should be carried on by one of his brothers.

“I worked with him for years without disagreeing and we demand that a family member be selected immediately to replace him the way Imran Okoth replaced Ken Okoth and also the way Issah Juma Boy replaced his late brother Boy Juma Boy in the Senate,"  said the local area MCA.

"Kamoti has left behind brothers, Gideon Hare and Mdigo Mwamkale and one of them should be given that chance to continue the work Kamoti started in ODM.”
