Police IG Gilbert Masengeli to be sentenced for court contempt

Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli fails (for the seventh time) to appear in court regarding the abduction case of three men in Kitengela, instead sending Deputy IG Eliud Lagat, who flew to Mandera and Wajir for official duties.

Masengeli, along with other top police officials, departed from Wilson Airport in Nairobi on Monday, September 9, 2024, to assess security operations in the two counties.

The court found Acting IG Gilbert Masengeli guilty of contempt for repeatedly ignoring summons connected to the disappearance of three people in Kitengela.

At the same time, Justice Lawrence Mugambi summons SGB/VIP unit commandant Lazarus Opicho.

The judge has scheduled the sentencing for Friday, September 13.
