Donald Kipkorir, a prominent lawyer, has vowed to pursue the Board of Muthaiga Country Club’s immigration status in his ongoing legal battle against the prestigious club.
This comes after a recent court order allowing Kipkorir access to the club grounds whenever its members so request.
Kipkorir’s legal team contended that the denial of access to the club was not only a breach of his constitutional rights, but also indicative of broader issues within the club’s management.
Kipkorir asserts that the majority of the club’s board members come from a particular racial and ethnic background, which he believes may have influenced their decision to limit his access.
Kipkorir announced on social media that he intended to investigate the immigration status of the club’s board members.
“At the appropriate time, my lawyer will demand the board’s immigration status!” “Even if the club collapses due to its Colonial history, we will strictly adhere to the law!”
In court, Peter Wanyama, Kipkorir’s lawyer, argued that the treatment Kipkorir received could be interpreted as both racial and tribal discrimination, contending that such actions reflect the club’s colonial legacy and historical biases.
The legal team plans to explore whether these biases have led to systemic exclusion and unfair treatment of those who do not fit the club’s traditional demographic profile.
According to Justice E.C. Mwita’s High Court order, Muthaiga Country Club must grant Kipkorir access whenever they receive an invitation.
The judge issued a conservatory order to protect his access until the court makes a final decision.
