A conference of Jubilee Party members was hosted by President William Ruto in the Statehouse. Jubilee's remaining elected and nominated members are ready to decamp from Azimio.

Azimio will only stay with ODM and Wiper, which are the main parties with members who were elected or nominated.

According to reports, the government took the action as part of a strategy to stop Raila Odinga, who is in charge of a sizable protest in Nairobi.

On Sunday, Kenyan Kwanza MPs asked President Ruto to talk to the Jubilee faction of the Azimio coalition to stop the attack by the opposition.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua joined the meeting, which got underway just after 8 a.m.

There was EALA MP Kanini Kega, Nominated MP Sabina Chege, Shadrach Mwiti (Douth Imenti), Mark Mwenje (Embakasi West), Amos Mwago (Starehe), Dan Karitho (Igembe Central), Stanley Muthama (Lamu West), and Joseph Githuku, among others.

Gachagua met with the same officials in his office on Friday, telling them that the Kenya Kwanza administration would cooperate with everyone, regardless of party membership.

"Siasa usiweke kwa roho, Riggy G the Deputy President hosted us today and we had a good day discussing development issues," Kanini Kega said.

Kanini Kega advised me not to take politics too seriously after the conversation.
Kega, who is seen as a close supporter of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, was one of Kenya Kwanza's harshest detractors during the pre-August elections last year.

In November of last year, Kega changed his mind and started getting leaders from Mount Kenya to support DP Gachagua. This was after he failed to defend his seat in Kieni.

In support of the DP, Kega said that he would try to get people in the region to work together, but only within the framework of the Jubilee Party, which is led by former president Uhuru Kenyatta.

At a National Delegates Convention in February 2022, Ruto was kicked out of the Jubilee party, where he had been the deputy party leader.

Uhuru Kenyatta, a former president who is also the party's leader, chairs the NDC.
Gachagua, who was the Mathira MP at the time, left the Jubilee party and joined UDA on March 2, 2022.

Members of the Jubilee Party met with Gachagua just 48 hours after the party claimed that ballots for opposition candidate Raila Odinga had been stolen in Mount Kenya.
