After six years of marriage, Taylor Swift and actor Joe Alwyn have called it quits and are back on the market, searching for soulmates.

Someone close to Taylor told CNN that she and Joe split up soon after that as a result of fights. They just drifted apart, but they still want to be friends.

CNN has contacted Swift and Alwyn's representatives for comment. Entertainment Tonight first reported the information.

Swift and Alwyn were originally mentioned as a couple in 2016. Swift is now on her "Eras Tour."

Taylor Swift and Alwyn were able to keep their relationship a secret for the most part, but Swift, who has won a Grammy, dropped a few hints about Alwyn in her songs along the way.

When you're in a lavender haze of love, "you'll do everything to remain there and not let others knock you down because of that cloud," Swift sings in the song "Lavender Haze" from her 2022 album "Midnights," which is about Alwyn. Swift made this revelation on her Instagram in January.

"In our six-year relationship, we've had to avoid strange stories and tabloid coverage, and we simply ignore it."

"This song is about avoiding such nonsense to preserve the real stuff," she explained.

Alwyn was also given publishing rights for the song "Sweet Nothing" on "Midnights."

The duo has previously worked together on tracks that have appeared on Swift's albums. Using the alias "William Bowery," the British actor was given credit on several tracks from Swift's "Folklore" and "Evermore" albums from the 2020 pandemic period.

Swift told everyone who Alwyn really was in the Disney+ documentary "Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions" from the same year.

Swift said that Alwyn "plays the piano very well and is always making up new things and improvising."

Alwyn's first Grammy victory came in 2021 with "Folklore," which went on to win album of the year.

When Swift's added certain wedding-related lyrics in "Lover," the album's title tune, which was released that year, there was also conjecture that the couple at the time had gotten engaged.

In 2022, Alwyn jokingly said, "I mean, the fact is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn't tell, and if the response was no, I wouldn't say," in response to the WSJ Magazine's question, "If I had a pound for every time I believe I've been told I've been engaged, then I'd have a lot of pound coins."
