During a speech on Tuesday, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua expressed his disappointment with the Cabinet Secretaries for not being more vocal about the work they do.

Gachagua pointed out that many CSs fail to mention the administration’s accomplishments during their State House speeches, leading to a lack of awareness among Kenyans about the government’s efforts.

He also mentioned that some CSs have declined interview requests from the media, making it difficult to spread the word about their achievements.

“This lack of visibility is concerning because Kenyans deserve to know about the progress we’re making,” Gachagua stated.

The Senate was also frustrated with three CSs who failed to appear before them last week.

The group scheduled to testify before the Senate included Susan Nakhumicha for Health, Alfred Mutua for Foreign Affairs, and Florence Bore for Labour. However, they were unable to do so.

The Speaker of the Senate, Amason Kingi, instructed the three CSs to abide by the House’s regulations.

Aaron Cheruiyot, the Senate’s majority leader, recommended that the three CSs make amends to the House for their actions.

“When they eventually appear here, they should not be allowed to answer any questions until they apologize for wasting our time. This is not appropriate behaviour for CSs, as anticipated. Write to the Parliament as soon as possible since the three CSs are clearly in the wrong.”
