According to his brother Shadrack Kaguta, the president of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, who tested positive for COVID-19 on June 7, is no longer in danger.
According to Kaguta, the 78-year-old is being held locked up and will likely take his last COVID-19 test on Thursday.
“The President is currently safe. The Monitor cited him as saying, “I just got in contact with him recently on the phone, and he informed me he is alright and simply follows the regular operating protocols from the Ministry of Health while he prepares for the final test possibly on Thursday this week.
The 37-year-old serving president has begun his routine tasks, he said, “like performing a few documents despite his isolation.”
Kaguta was speaking during a nationwide prayer gathering for Museveni’s recovery that was hosted in the country’s capital, Kampala.
Uganda adopted among the strictest containment measures in Africa during the height of the COVID-19 epidemic, including curfews, business and school closures, the closing of borders, and other actions.
In February 2022, it officially reopened.
Museveni, who has had a COVID vaccination, has always handled official business while maintaining social distancing. During the epidemic, he was often observed sitting by himself in a covered structure on the grounds of his office while receiving guests.
