Any Worldcoin-related activities must cease, according to Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki.

According to a statement made by CS Kindiki on August 2, the government is worried about the organization’s continuous efforts to register residents by gathering information from their eyeballs and iris.

According to him, inquiries and investigations have been launched by the appropriate security, financial services, and data protection authorities to determine the legitimacy and legality of the aforementioned operations, the security and protection of the data being gathered, and the intended uses of the harvesters.

“Additionally, it would be crucial to offer upfront assurances of public safety and the integrity of financial transactions involving such a vast number of individuals,” he continued.

“As a result, the government has immediately banned Worldcoin’s operations as well as those of any other organisation that may be potentially interacting with Kenyans until pertinent government agencies certify that there are no risks of any kind to the general public,” he continued.

Any natural or legal person who furthers, assists, abets, or otherwise acts in or is associated with the operations of Worldcoin shall face appropriate action, according to CS Kindiki.
