Entrepreneur Esborn Macharia of Thika wins the Sh27 million SportPesa midweek jackpot.
A football enthusiast from Kenya has been victorious in the Sh27 million SportPesa midweek jackpot.
On November 28, 2023, Esborn Macharia, the manager of a hardware store in Thika town, received a dummy check for Sh27,041, 645 from SportPesa employees.
Macharia is a supporter of both Gor Mahia and Arsenal in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and the English Premier League. On November 24, 2023, he put a wager of Sh99 and accurately predicted the results of 13 games on the midweek Jackpot.
This allowed Macharia to get an early Christmas present.
“It has been almost a year since I started using SportPesa. Though I have won before, this is the most money I have ever received.
Macharia, joined by his wife, said, “When I placed the bet, I neglected to check on its progress, so at first I did not even know that I had won this money.”
“SportPesa contacted me on Saturday to let me know that I had won.” I was so overwhelmed that I am still in shock,” the youthful entrepreneur said.
The three-time father Macharia has already started planning how he would use the funds.
Currently, he is concentrating on finishing his unfinished home, which has reached the second storey.
“I am managing a lot of active initiatives right now. My ability to comfortably sift things out will be much aided by this Sh 27 million. With this victory, my family and my children who attend school will also be properly taken care of,” he said.
“This is genuine, folks.” He adds, “I won and I am a millionaire now thanks to SportPesa,” thanking the company for making him the newest billionaire in the area.
Currently, Macharia is following in the footsteps of another Gor Mahia supporter, Siaya County resident Stephen Ojwang, 50, who won Sh23 million in April 2022.
Seth Mokua won Sh24, 665,485 on September 2, 2023, making him one of the other midweek jackpot winners.
On June 6, Jackson Mutiso received Sh20, 892,489 as well.
Additionally, Gor Mahia and Murang’a Seal, two Kenyan teams, have SportPesa as their shirt sponsor. The two clubs’ combined annual contract value is reported to be Sh100 million.
