The Mbogolo Bridge on the Mtwapa – Kilifi Road has been destroyed by raging floodwaters, which has caused traffic to be disrupted to and from Mombasa.
The Mombasa-Mazeras-Kaloleni-Mavueni-Kilifi road is an alternate route that drivers are encouraged to use, according to a statement released on Saturday by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA).
“As part of the Kwa Kadzengo-Kilifi Road Project, a new bridge is now being built in this location. The State agency added in the statement that KeNHA personnel were on the scene to assist in resuming traffic flow across the impacted road stretch.
KeNHA additionally urged drivers to exercise caution as they work to restore the regular flow of traffic on the route.
