Royalty distribution for the first quarter of 2024 by the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) will be presided over by First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto at the Safari Park Hotel.
On Thursday morning, the nation’s highest earners will be honoured by the First Lady with cheques.
Legends, rising artists, artists with disabilities, top Gospel musicians nationwide, and top secular artists nationally will be among the first group of artists to collect their royalties, according to MCSK CEO Dr. Ezekiel Mutua.
At the event, the highest-earning Kenyans from every region gather with officials from the Kenya Copyright Board, the Ministry of Gender, Culture, Heritage, and the Arts, the Kenya Copyright Committee, and the international organisations to which MCSK is affiliated.
Starting on the 25th of this month, MCSK will start distributing royalties to its more than 16,000 members for the year 2024. This process will continue until the end of March.
Additionally, MCSk has three additional royalty payouts scheduled for this year.
The Kenya Association of Music Producers (KAMP), the Performers Rights Society of Kenya (PRISK), and the Music Copyright Society (MCSK) have jointly issued a joint call to action to Kenyan music consumers, urging them to comply with fair compensation laws for artists’ creative works.
The three CMOs have issued a call to action to all music fans: settle any outstanding royalties and cooperate with the appropriate authorities to get artists their fair share of the profits.
