After five years, well-known radio host Steve Jacob Maunda, often known as Shatta Bway, has revealed his departure from Citizen’s Waks Tikitaka programme.

Addressing fans at his last show on Monday, March 18, Shatta thanked the Waks Tikitaka supporters for their continued backing over the previous five years.

“Thank you so much for being a part of our family, Waks Tikitaka. It has been an incredible five years. You have supported us at every turn that we have taken. We don’t take anything for granted—we arrived here green, and you’ve made us the best for those five years,” he said.

Along with his coworkers Fred Afune, Vincent Kimani, Vincent Ateya, and Jeridah Andayi, Shatta also thanked his co-presenters Q-Tee and DJ Rambo.

Following his departure from Radio Citizen, Shatta posted a video on his YouTube page in which he outlined his intention to focus on parenting his two children.

“At this stage of my life, I make choices similar to those of two parents. I have to consider my roles as a mother and a father. I need more time with my children. My son is now 13 years old, and this is the age at which a parent is most likely becoming detached from their child without realising it,” Shatta said.

“I feel like I deserve to spend time with my kids, and I can’t work on a project that keeps me busy every day and prevents me from doing that.” My goal is to be the greatest father possible.

In June 2023, Shatta lost his wife after she became ill and spent several weeks in the hospital.
