WhatsAPP groups in Matungu

A man in Kakamega received a Sh 850,000 fine for breaching personal confidentiality, particularly when it came to other people's health.

After revealing a patient's health issue that he had previously diagnosed in his clinic, a clinical officer in Matungu received a hefty fine.

Due to WhatsApp arguments, the man slipped off his fingers and revealed the beans to the public after a heated debate between Matungu constituency candidates who were vying for different seats in the area.

" Najua uko na Ukimwi, si umeze dawa juu utajinyonga" the manposted on WhatsApp group.

The man took a screenshot of the HIV/AIDS body after the officer revealed his HIV status during the heated debate in the WhatsApp group.

However, the HIV and Aids Tribunal ordered the clinical officer to pay Ksh 850,000 to the man for disclosing his HIV status when they engaged in a heated political exchange in a Matungu WhatsApp group.

The incident happened days before the 2022 elections. The August 2022 polls elected Peter Oscar Nabulindo as the Member of Parliament in the area.
