Kalenjins satisfied with Chirchir appointment to Cabinet, rally behind President Ruto

The partial cabinet that President William Ruto named on Friday has received support from a number of Kericho county leadership figures.

At a political gathering on Saturday, Hillary Kosgei, the Kipkelion West Member of Parliament, led the leaders in acknowledging their satisfaction with the names the Head of State had presented.

After facing a wave of resistance from Kenyans for more than a month, the Head of State is now trying to rebuild his government.

In the process of approving the new nominations, the leaders emphasized the need to combat corruption at a time when Kenya’s economy is recovering from the terrible shocks it has experienced.

He told reporters, “We are satisfied with the people we have brought on board; their names will come to Parliament, and we will do our duty as the members of the National Assembly.”

The president retained a number of the cabinet secretaries from the previous cabinet, and the leaders thanked him for showing faith in them.

Among the leaders, for example, there was an expression of enthusiasm over the reinstatement of Aden Duale to the Ministry of Defence docket.

Furthermore, the leaders stated that Davis Chirchir’s performance in his prior Energy docket was sufficient to warrant providing him with another opportunity to appear before the cabinet.

In response to allegations that the Head of State is attempting to take into consideration the opposition Azimio Coalition by offering seven places to them, President William Ruto nominated eleven additional members to his new-look Cabinet on Friday. This comes after the president nominated eleven new members on Friday.

Ruto has proposed Kithure Kindiki for the Cabinet Secretary for the Interior, Alice Wahome for the Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Aden Duale for the Cabinet Secretary for Defence, Soipan Tuya for the Cabinet Secretary for Environment, and Rebecca Miano, the former Cabinet Secretary for Trade, for the Attorney General position.
