Wetangula via political party registrar blocks 50 attempts to register Natembeya’s Tawe as political party

Tawe movement in Kenya

Friends of Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya now want to register the Tawe Movement as a political party. However, Speaker Moses Wetangula and Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi have vowed not to let that happen.

There have already been attempts, but they have failed, thanks to the Registrar of Political Parties, Anne Nderitu. All attempts hit a dead end.

A supremacy battle between National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has resulted in over 50 attempts to register “Tawe” as a political party.

Anne Nderitu, Registrar of Political Parties, has reportedly rejected all applications deemed “offensive.”

The group now accuses Anne of obstructing their constitutional rights. They added that the movement will continue to gain momentum in the western region ahead of the 2027 elections.

The move comes after President William Ruto pushed for the merger of the Kenya Kwanza parties ahead of the 2027 elections.

Supporters say, “They are cowards; they know they will lose it to Natembeya, and he might be a kingpin in the western region; thus, Mudavadi and Wetangula have teamed up to fight him.”

“If you remember, there was a politician who said that when he was in primary school, Musalia was in government; now he’s in government, but Musalia has done nothing for his hometown.”

“If Natembeya stands firm and proceeds to register his slogan (political party) TAWE, trust me, he will have more followers, and those in government, if they don’t merge their parties with that of the President, will be out and retire.”
