A 19-year-old KCSE candidate in Mombasa was electrocuted to death.
A 19-year-old KCSE candidate in Mombasa died from electrocution after falling into a ditch that had an exposed underground electrical cable.
A family in Mombasa County’s Bangladeshi village of Mikindani ward is in mourning following the death of their daughter by electrocution just minutes after she finished a KCSE exam paper.
After completing her paper for the day, the Kajembe High School student was returning home when she tragically met her death.
She had to walk through the muddy, narrow paths that connected the iron sheet houses and mud because of Mombasa’s heavy rainfall.
Residents claim that the student died from electrocution after walking into an area where hanging electrical wires were submerged.
Kenya Power should have acted before the accident, according to resident Jackline Adhiambo, “The girl had not even changed the school uniform, it is so unfortunate, we do not even know who to blame.”
Since then, the body has been moved to the morgue at Coast General Hospital while inquiries are ongoing.
