80% of Creatives are not registered in Kenya -Hevafund Surveys

Survey shows Kenyan creatives are ranked highest in East and Central Africa. However, the majority of the creatives are not registered by the relevant government bodies.

The SURVEY conducted by HEVAFund indicates that 80percent of creatives in Kenya are not registered with any relevant govt entity in their sector.

Thus, making it difficult to identify creatives or organise collective action.

The report was given to the films board for a follow up.

Kenya Films and Classification Board boss Ezekiel Mutua says the majority have been doing it underground with government intervention.

” We have a bigger number of creatives who are not registered but we see their work on Youtube, DailyMotion and other channels online, ”
