Businesses around Digo road Mombasa hit with a major blow after the county of Mombasa gave notice to some businesses to close. The move comes after five people in Bondeni tested Positive of the naval virus and A-one supermarket official tested positive that rendered the employees taken to quarantine.

Several people in Mombasa CBD tested positive.  Mombasa county has over 70 individuals with the naval virus.

Customers who have been to A-one supermarket from 20th April have been urged to self-quarantine themselves after one the supermarket attendants tested Positive.

The areas that are most affected in Mombasa include Bamburi, Nyali, Tononoka and Mkomani.

There is concern from the public over the Open-air market at Tononoka ground. Residents in the area claim the open-air market is a breeding ground for the virus.

” We have seen county government play foul on allocating traders places for them to do business. Kongowea was better and Marikiti. The only solution was to reduce operating stalls by making enough space from one stall to the other.  We are fearing that the congestion at the Tononoka open air could bring the numbers up, ” Rashid Hemed a Tononoka resident.

” The Governor is talking of lock-down and people do not have food. The food being distributed is only for Ramadhan. We have seen non-muslims not given the food. How can the food be given to Muslim landlords and not be given to Non-Muslim tenants?, ” Crispus Mae said from Kongowea ward.

” We have seen the food being distributed despited writing names to the community village elders, the food is directed to specific houses saying the rest are not in Ramadhan, ”  Meshack Ngala said.
