Mrs Agnes Riara found herself on the receiving end after being arrested with others in a matatu.
She says she was the first person to board a matatu, then later more passengers trickled in. The conductor kept on adding passengers until it was more than eight people required by law.
” We were stopped by traffic police. I only have the fare. Everyone bribed the police officers and they got back to the same matatu and continued with their journey,” she says.
Mrs Agnes Riara was taken into quarantine after she was found travelling in Matatu carrying excess passengers, those who could bribe were let go.
” I was left with the Police because I did not have anything to bribe them. They took me to this quarantine facility for mandatory 14 days, ” she added while crying.
She is being held at Nyandarua High. They are charging Sh1,100 for bed and food daily. She is a tea picker and can not afford. She pleads for help.
