Mrs Agnes Riara found herself on the receiving end after being arrested with others in a matatu.

She says she was the first person to board a matatu, then later more passengers trickled in. The conductor kept on adding passengers until it was more than eight people required by law.

” We were stopped by traffic police. I only have the fare. Everyone bribed the police officers and they got back to the same matatu and continued with their journey,” she says.
