An attack on Apostle Johnson Suleman killed seven people, including policemen

The Nigeria Police said they have started a serious and aggressive search for the bandit that attacked Apostle Johnson Suleman’s car on Friday. Suleman is the President of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide.

 

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the state, Chidi Nwabuzor, told the BBC that three policemen, two drivers, two civilians, and one domestic staff member of the apostle lost their lives in the attack.

 

Nwabuzor said one domestic staff escaped the scene and her whereabouts were never known.

 

The PPRO added that the police are working with vigilantes and hunters to search the forest to find the gunmen.

 

According to a police spokesman, the popular cleric and his entourage were travelling from Benin, the capital of Edo State in southern Nigeria, around 5 p.m. on Friday, October 21, when they were attacked by assailants in the Auchi area of the state.

 

He claimed that when police arrived on the scene, his people opened fire, killing one of the suspects and stealing one of the vehicles brought by the gunmen.

 

When asked by the BBC whether it was an assassination attempt or just happened, he said they never knew exactly what it was as they were still investigating the incident.

The popular Nigerian cleric, who confirmed the attack in a video he posted on his social media handles late Friday night, said he and his family are well after escaping the assassination attempt that led to the death of seven people.

 

He explained that he was in a convoy with his wife and kids when the assassins attacked his car and began spraying bullets at it.
