Nancy Onyancha and her husband Job Mwaura both worked at Mediamax and were fired on the night of Sunday, June 21. Anne Kiguta with her Camera colleagues were also fired.
Besides the popular presenters, other employees who were fired included Ken Wariahe (Swahili anchor and editor), Isabella Kituri (anchor/Swahili editor), Caroline Wambui (acting managing editor), Shukri Wachu (education/crime reporter), Apollo Kamau (political reporter), Mercy Milanoi (business reporter), Joy Kiruki ( features editor), Gloria Milimu (health reporter), Caren Kibbett and Kimani Githuku (reporter).
They were all fired from an SMS message from the Human resource department. The ones who remained will receive 50 percent pay cuts. That will be their new salaries.

This was the second time the Mediamax company laid off staffers in less than a year after firing 160 employees in October 2019. The management and employees have been in a longstanding stalemate after the former imposed a 50% pay cut which some workers found unlawful and sued the company.
