Anti-government Kenyans protests in Netherlands, Germany backing Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisii protests

Peaceful protestors in the Netherlands will march from Hague Central Station to the Kenyan Embassy and make a scheduled stop at the International Criminal Court (ICC) headquarters along Oude Waalsdorperweg Street in solidarity with calls for political change in the country.

Intersectional Kenyan Voices Germany will be protesting outside the Kenyan Embassy in Berlin later today.

Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County, saw the start of peaceful anti-government protests as police officers used tear gas in Nairobi’s CBD to disperse a small gathering that was starting to assemble.

A group of youths paid tribute to fallen comrades at Mapembeni, Mombasa, followed by a peaceful procession towards State House Mombasa.

There is a complete halt in Emali due to ongoing anti-government protests in Kisumu, while reports from the ground indicate that anti-government protests in Kisii town have already begun.

Protesters blocked the Migori-Kisii highway as they clashed with the police. Over 50,000 protesters swarmed Eldoret town, prompting a heavy deployment of police.

However, Nairobi anti-government protestors have rejected a centralised leadership and insisted that they have no power hierarchy. In the Nairobi CBD, claims of falsely assuming authority nearly led to the roughing up of a local activist, Boniface Mwangi.

Protesters warned Boniface Mwangi, Khalif Kairo, and Hanifa not to self-proclaim leadership or face an anti-government response.
