The Deputy President William Ruto on Tuesday made an extemporaneous talk to Jubilee Party headquarters.

The DP deputy director of communications Emmanuel Talam cleared the thinking saying he was there to check on the ” party progress” ahead of the numerous upcoming by-elections.

“He went there in his capacity as the deputy party leader. He has an office there,” Talam told the Star on the phone.

In June, a segment of the DP’s associates opened another office entitled ‘Jubilee Asili’, indicating that they have been denied access to resources at the Jubilee Headquarters.

There is an increasing split in Jubilee with Ruto saying dropping the party was an option.

The Jubilee Asili group had embraced the ‘Sote pamoja’ slogan.

His visit ignited thoughts that the DP could have been examining the state of readiness should the President upheld the Maraga’s advisory which will head to a by-election.

Ruto’s offhand visit to the Thika Road-based office came weeks after he said the ruling party had been skyjacked by cartels and troublemakers.

Jubilee Party deputy secretary-general Caleb Kositany said the DP was at the headquarters to review on the preparations for several by-elections that are set to be conducted.

“We have by-elections that are to be held anytime soon and as Jubilee, we must prepare for them,” Kositany said.
