Erick Kabendera denied by Court to attend his mother’s burial -Tanzania

State prosecutors in Tanzania 

reject journalist Erick Kabendera’s request to be able to attend his mother’s funeral.

He was in court today. Arrested on 29 July, Police claimed they were investigating his citizenship, he was then charged with economic crimes.

Mr. Kabendera’s mother passed away earlier this week- she had recently given an interview in which she urged President Magufuli to pardon her son.

The state has rejected the application by detained journalist Erick Kabendera to allow him to attend his mother’s requiem mass at Chang’ombe Catholic Church in Dar on Friday.

Me. Kabendera now wants the court to free him to witness his mother’s burial. He wants to sendoff his mother at the burial ceremony.
